Supper Club.
Sweet Moments & Salty Air
HoneySalt is our neighbour in Mawgan Porth, a small bistro run by Kelly and her partner, a few minutes from the barn. It’s the kind of place that cooks with the season and doesn’t make a fuss about it. When they host a supper club, the village turns out.
Five courses, one long evening, and a group of mates from upcountry.
Unprompted, they chose to drink our Stargazey house white, Harlyn from Trevibban Mill, grown a few miles inland. It’s crisp and bright, made for food like this and for the coast it comes from. It’s the bottle we leave in the barn for guests, and it has never tasted more at home here at the restaurant.
Despite an incredible five courses, the showstopper came before the first. Warm chilli cheese focaccia arrived with a dish of honey butter. That’s all it was: soft, golden, a little salt cutting through the sweetness. The table went quiet. It was simple, but utterly perfect.
The rest of the menu earned its place too. Each course was considered and generous, cooked by people who clearly love what they do. By the end, the candles had burned low and nobody was in a hurry to leave.
It always feels like a gamble, bringing friends to your favourite places. Safe to say this one was a winner.
Feast at the Barn
Evenings like this are exactly why we asked HoneySalt to be part of our Feast at the Barn giveaway, alongside our friends at Pentire Drinks. The prize was two nights at Stargazey, a Pentire hamper, and a private dinner cooked by Honey & Salt in the barn itself. Thank you to everyone who entered, and congratulations to our winners. We hope the butter is everything we promised.
Private dining at Stargazey
You don’t need to win a competition to eat like this. HoneySalt can cook a private dinner for guests staying at the barn: a long table under the vaulted beams, the courtyard doors open if the evening allows, and nobody needing to drive home. Get in touch at hello@stargazey.co.uk when you book and we’ll put you in touch.
Alternatively, head down to the village one evening and eat at the source.
Order the focaccia. Don’t share the butter.
