Friends of Stargazey.
Building character, craft, and community.
Cornwall has always been shaped by its people — fishers, farmers, miners — those who live by what the land and sea allow. But in recent years, places most associated with Cornwall have also become the ones most at risk of losing their identity. When tourism swells and the demand for convenience rises, the quiet character of a place can be the first thing to erode.
And yet tourism is vital here. It supports livelihoods, preserves heritage, and keeps communities alive. The question isn’t whether tourism should exist — it’s how.
Stargazey was built with a simple belief:
A home should add to the place it lives in, not take away from it.
So instead of being isolated from its surroundings, Stargazey is intentionally woven into them. Step inside and you’ll find things that tell a local story — Tregothnan tea in your mug, St. Eval candles glowing by the window, Cornish artwork on the walls. Every detail chosen because it belongs to this place and supports those who shape it.
But the idea goes beyond the four walls.
When you stay here, you step directly into a network of Cornish craft and culture - Friends of Stargazey .
Wrap up warm in your waterproof robe from St Ives and explore quieter corners of the coast. Sip locally roasted coffee — with some shops offering a little something back to guests. Pick up fresh produce from grocers who stock from the fields around us. Wander markets and meet the makers whose craft has shaped the objects in this house.
This is tourism that feels human — reciprocal, rooted, respectful.
It protects what matters: character, craft, and community.
